The Duality of Wonder Dragons

"Wait, what kind of dumb title is that? What 'Duality'? Has the author gone to see The Artist again?!"

"Nonsense. I believe it's supposed to be something a bit more...down to earth."

"Huh? And WHO in the name of The Majister's severed and extra crispy right buttcheek are you?!"

"...Interesting mental image. They call me Lady Lilac. Leader of Shang Tu and royal warrior. Pleasure to meet you."

"Oh great, another me. Tell me, how did the torture affect YOU, then?"

"...Excuse me?"

"Well you know, every freaking Lilac changes around the part, don't they? Like every one has a different reaction to getting a trillion volts up the jacksie. One died from her heart stopping, one never got the treatment and died from the wounds later on, one became a beefcake and one even turned into a kaiju! Hell, one went completely loopy from the experience! Can't remember her name though."

"..."

"...Well, I suppose me going nuts took a BIT more than that."

"A LOT more than that. Your No-Zone carer told me everything. And...well, if you really want to know - yes, I got tortured by Brevon too. But I had a lucky break. Be it a rush of adrenaline or sheer luck, I broke through my bonds and...killed Brevon. With my bare hands."

"I bet it plagues you, don't it? How it drives you mad with guilt..."

"Actually no. You see, The Majister picked me up after I escaped the base with, uh, Brevon's weapon in tow. But instead of executing me, he asked if I wanted to be his heir. He saw what I did to Brevon and he wanted me to take over when he died. Said I had the right mindset and the right sort of strength to lead his kingdom to victory. Then...he died. And I took over his kingdom. The people love me."

"So what, you killed a man and became a queen?!"

"In a fashion. He taught me how to lead people and how to fight for 'em. He even purified Brevon's dagger with Kingdom Stone energy! It repels all evil now. Check it."

"Huh. I have Brevon's blade too! Here!"

"Yes. Yours is still Brevon Blade Classic. Complete with, uh...grotesque decorations..."

"Well THANK YOU! Sorry I haven't had time to clean my freaking blade or anything, I've been too busy living with the pain of having the entire world CURBSTOMP you! How can you not feel the pain of that torture?"

"Because not every Lilac does, War Me. Not every Lilac exists to be broken by people like Traveller and Clone Master and those so-called relatives of ours. We're stronger than that. Just...not in the same way. Of course, I had some help. Some random No-Zoner came to me during the night. Said he could help me overcome my struggles with that...session, so I could focus on leadership and battles. And...they did. I don't feel it clawing at my mind anymore."

"OH IT JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER DOESN'T IT, LILAC SUE?!"

"War Me? You're starting to act a little irrational."

"Well no wonder! You got the right end of every stick that came your way! You got pardoned, you got a cool sword, you killed Brevon and you ended up ruling a massive kingdom! You got EVERYTHING handed to you on a silver platter. Look at me! No sanity, no friends, and all I've got to enjoy is a ruined world and a quick death by headshot! Just 'cause you had everything, I can't have ANYthing! I LOST EVERYTHING TO PEOPLE LIKE YOU!"  

"WAR ME! Please, just...just get a grip, alright?"

"I just...I...it's not fair. IT'S NOT FAIR!"  

"Shh, shh, it's okay...it's alright. I know you're bitter. I know your jealous. I know why're you angry. With the divide between us, how couldn't you? But it happens. We differ from the actions of ourselves and those around us. It's...it's amusing, really. How different we are for such humble origins. Look at your tendrils, after all."

"What tendrils?"

"Eh? *feels War Lilac's tendrils* Oh...it's synthetic. Okay. I mean, mine were turned into a magic whip, so...*sigh* Look, I get your anger. But don't let it define you, like so many others. Who knows? Maybe you'll get better and thing's will turn 'round for you! Heck, perhaps it's already happened...Draig."

"What?"

"Nothing. Come on, let's go to my universe and get you some Shang Tu Rocksalt Ice Cream. Lady's treat."

"I, uh...alright."

Hey, remember when I used characters other than Traveller and War Lilac? Heh heh...yeah, me neither.

I think I may have kickstarted a rush of alternate Sash Lilacs with my little list. I'm not complaining, it'll help with burgeoning creativity, but I can't help but think that a few of them are more alike-yet-different than one might think. I say this because of the of the Lilacs suggested to me was Lady Lilac, a creation of , though the design of Lady Lilac came from . I'll stick the ref image below. And I decided to see how my own version of Lilac compared to his.

It's one of the things I love about alternate universe versions of the same character - it's such a fun game to compare what it supposed to be the same character and getting totally different designs and personalities. War Lilac's ravaged, broken look compared to Lady Lilac's more refined, collected and overly sane appearance. How both use the same weapon, but used for different purposes and fuelled by different energies. And how both use their tendrils...or lack thereof. Surprisingly deep stuff for two different versions of one poorly-written dragon girl who veers a bit into Mary-Sue territory. Like, right on the edge.

And I THINK this might be the last appearance of this design for War Lilac. 'Cause I might give it a slight redesign. Maybe. Don't quote me on it. I'll try to use her less and focus on actual Sonic characters a bit more. I'll try to, anyway. Anyways, enjoy!
